The Mets swiped a feature from old Tiger Stadium, an overhang for the upper deck in right field, and incorporated it as a Caddyshack-like quirk at Citi Field. It became the cause for the latest in a flurry of disputed home runs involving the Mets.
And Wednesday night, it was the Nationals who were angrily doing the disputing.
For the fourth time in five games, the Mets were involved in a video review of an in-question home run. They are now five-for-five in favorable resolutions this season, with the latest one providing Daniel Murphy a two-run, tiebreaking homer, Johan Santana a rare gift win and the Mets a sweep of the Nationals with a 7-4 victory Wednesday night.
The Mets (26-20) retook first place from Philadelphia, which lost to Florida. They have won five of six since getting swept at Dodger Stadium. Continue
Statistically speaking, 4 video reviews in 5 games is an incredibly rare feat for one team. Anyway, it's great to see the Mets back where they belong, on top of the NL East.
