Tim Redding's standing in the rotation seemed to get slightly more secure when Oliver Perez's knee inflammation resurfaced and the southpaw's rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Buffalo was halted. Still, the Mets will not indefinitely use Redding in the rotation if outings like Saturday's showing continue, with or without Perez.
