In their search for more pitching depth, the Mets could be among a number of teams pursuing Ken Takahashi, a lefthander from the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. Takahashi is 40 years old, according to Japaneseballplayers.com Takahashi, who filed for free agency this week, went 8-5 with a 3.50 ERA in 21 games for the Carp last season. He throws a fastball, slider and shuuto, which resembles a screwball. (Newsday)
